Wordpress 2.7!

Nothing like a new wordpress release to make you post something new. I don’t know when it was released so this is probably old news. I’ve been working so much lately I haven’t had time to post anything.

We got snow. That’s all I can say.

Well, you probably won’t notice anything has changed. I upgraded my wordpress today. It was long over due. I’m amazed I didn’t get hacked with all the open doors.
Other than that, nothing to report.

New Design!

I’ve finally sat down and decided to learn the WordPress templating system. It’s actually pretty simple. Basicly all you need are 4 main files (style.css, index.php, sidebar.php, and footer.php) and all you do with that is fill in your sites stuff and WordPress does the rest.

What do you guys think of the site? You like it or no? What do you think would make it better?

Making a new design gave me a chance to try some new PHP and XHTML ideas. I’m still trying to figure out how to take out the grey piece from the bottom of the page. If you know how to do that, please share

In my daily random web browsing tonight I found a neat little tool that generates custom WordPress themes on the fly straight from the site - that you can download and FTP right into your WordPress powered web space. This piece of website generation is really quite a cool concept. I played with it for a brief few seconds and found that it works really well!

Destructive Chaos Scores 91% SEO!

I just checked Destructive Chaos’s Search Engine Optimization score! My site scored 91%! The only help they give me to make this any higher is that I should put alt tags on all my large images. What large images? All of them have alt tags!

My META tag relivance kind of sucks though. I’m not sure how to fix this. WordPress adds everything into the META tags to get my site out there more. There is nothing I can do about this. Do you have any ideas on how I can fix this low score (25%).

Destructive Chaos is my most updated web site I have. I take the most care of it. It’s taken a long time to get it where I enjoy going to it and figuring out what software I want to stick with. I think I found my match with WordPress. There is not much that can beat this blogging/CMS software for free. All open source and no encoded parts! It’s just what the doctor ordered. I haven’t had to code much to add onto the site. It’s basicly all been done, so all I have to do is upload the plugins and the site updates it’s self.

WordPress’s built in bloglog ping function is great! Everytime I post new content on the site Google,Bloglog,Yahoo,Ask and all the other major search engines that you may have come across come directly to my site within seconds bring you up2date content by the paragraph. You can also subscribe to my RSS feed and get my comments right to you Vista sidebar, Live.com account. For those of you that usedÂ to read my blog just by Windows Live Messenger, you can set my RSS feed to a Live Alert and you’ll get a nice little popup when I post something new. (Who knows maybe that’s how you got here in the first place!)

Also WordPress is very bandwidth friendly - not like I get enough hits to really care - it uses AJAX for many of the admin area, thus making it very interactive and enjoyable. Load times are also better than ever seeing as how muchÂ mysql driven stuffÂ actually has to be loaded to get the product.

I’ve kinda taken myself on a rant here again, but you know, it’s my site and I’ll do what I want. Another great thing about lots of text is that it makes your site look really import and well writen - even if it’s full of junk.

That’s right! I changed my site over to WordPress. Back to the start. WordPress has came a long way since the last time I installed it on Destructive Chaos. It will save me a lot of bandwidth that’s for sure. I can also add my own plugins so the site will grow more and more each time I code something new. Very cool. And the option to add a page on the fly is very cool!

Does anyone else use WordPress for their sites? Tell me! I’ll Blogroll you dude! Lol. Just leave a comment, I’ll blogroll you even if you don’t use WordPress.

Destructive Chaos has offically turned 1 year old! Woo. Look how far it’s come! In the past year, I’ve changed the layout twice. It looked like a iMac in October, now it looks like.. a different site? I’ve rebuilt it to run 100% on my Windows Live Spaces account and MySQL. This change has freed up alot of space on my server.

The new layout is also CSS vailidated (I can not get valid xhtml because of live spaces). Destructive Chaos is also 56k friendly. Only loading 7 images on the page. The rest is CSS and text! I’ve also coded the layout so that all the big images are actualy very small in size.

I’ve also made the site search engine friendly with changing index.php?pag=name to name.html. The site is completely dynamic and changes on the fly. Everything from the Title to the copyright footer. The CSS file is also loaded into the database making it easy to change into a different layout easily without having to edit any files directly.

If you viewed this for the reason I think you did… you’re sick! Comeon I try and keep this thing child friendly. You really think I would start talking about what I think you think I was thinking about!

I don’t wanna mac with you - but today Jaga and I did a lot of work into Destructive Chaos. Well, to tell the truth, I did nothing. Jaga did all the design work on the whole site, so I must give her some mad props. (I’ve always wanted to give someone props - maybe an clown nose or maybe some shoes?)Â The reason I gave this post such a weird and out of place title is because we designed it as a iMac! Yes, the computer. I just always have liked the look and feel of the Apple computer. Feel free to head on over to destructivechaos.com to check it out!
